To Procrastinate or Not to Procrastinate?

To Procrastinate or Not to Procrastinate? That Is The Question

Procrastination is the thief of time.
Proactive is taking the initiative and make things happen.

Some think it’s anal to be proactive. Hello. I guess I'm anal. I can tell you first hand that being proactive gives me a sense of relief and inner calmness that allows me to be happier. I sleep much better at night, and I smile a lot more during the day. I am healthier.

Its really quite simple. We are given a task and there’s a deadline. For our children, it’s usually homework or a chore. The older we get to be, its a number of things. From food, shopping, to doing laundry, to paying bills, to putting gas in our vehicles. It could be as simple as making an appointment or just making a quick phone call to clarify and/or verify something. Not to mention all other important tasks that come along on our adult path. The simple solution is to start the reaction process as soon as you can.

For those that think I’m anal. Maybe you’re right and I have it all wrong. So I decided to pay closer attention to how you, a procrastinator reacts to your style of attacking a deadline. As I observe, I realize I’ve chosen the perfect word, attacking! Because when you procrastinate, you go into desperation mode. You find yourself stressed with head in hand holding a headache up and you’re wondering why you’re fatigued to the max and even more anxious. Now you’re losing sleep the night before your deadline and waking up like a zombie. You look and feel like poop. How’s that working out for you? How do you feel? What do you think that is doing for you health wise?

The truth of the matter is if you enjoy being a procrastinator and it doesn’t ever affect anyone else, by all means, keep robbing yourself of your time, risking your health and not truly being happy. However, if there is one or more involved, you just might want to rethink your pattern of behavior, especially if you are working with a child that is modeling after you. Others will be upset with you instead of happy.

To confirm being anal isn’t all that bad, YourStory.com featured an article listing five damaging behaviors that are often found in unsuccessful people:

1. Procrastination
Procrastination is the mother of all unhealthy behaviors. It makes one unproductive and creates unnecessary lags in the workflow. The more you follow the will do it later attitude, the steadier your downfall will be. Procrastination has been mentioned as one of the top most reasons for unsuccessful careers. In order to be successful, you need to learn how to prioritize and make efforts to meet deadlines. Apart from this, having a keen interest in your work is of utmost importance. The faster and more positively you respond to your work, the closer you will get to success. www.yourstory.com/2016/08/5-behaviours-sabotage-success

Happiness is knowing when to flip the switch. To Be Proactive or Not To Be? This is the Question.
